I thought everyone did this, but in the past two weeks, I’ve had two different people say they’ve never heard of it, so I’ll mention it here.
Instead of buying those “garbage disposal fresheners” at the store that smell like lemon, just drop a used lemon peel into your garbage disposal once a week and run the disposal. It’ll clean your disposal and make your kitchen smell lovely, and you’re just using something you would have thrown away anyway.

Yah, that’s a great tip I do that all the time as well. Also works with orange peals – I’ll tear off a large piece and rub it all around the sink. Nice fresh citrus cleaning.
Oh, I love the scent of orange! I don’t use oranges nearly as often as I use lemons, but I am going to try that! Thanks!
Yup lemons and oranges for me here too. I also boil or put into a mini crockpot orange peels or any citrus peel to get rid of stinky kitchen smells.. ahem, my hubby loves fried chicken ;o)
Oh! My mini-crockpot is just sitting there on a shelf waiting for next time I need a hot dip! I think I’ll dig it out just for that purpose! Thanks!
I’m loving your blog!
I just started a new blog and would love it if you would stop by! Eliza’s blog
