Multi-grain Oatmeal with Blueberries
Lately, more often than not, we have oatmeal with fruit for breakfast. Sometimes I make up a big pot of steel-cut oats early in the week and then just re-heat it by the bowlful the rest of the week. It microwaves beautifully.
Sometimes the kids want cold cereal and I don’t have any oatmeal made up, and I make myself a packet of the Kashi GoLean multi-grain oatmeal (I like the cinnamon and honey version best).
Either way, while it’s hot from the microwave, we just stir in our fruit of choice, straight from the freezer – it thaws out quickly in the hot oatmeal. I love adding blueberries – not only are they one of my favorite flavors, but they’re so good for you, too. I add a little soy milk or plain yogurt, the kids add some whole milk, and there’s a super tasty, super quick, super healthy breakfast.
I like it so much that I’ve been known to eat it for dessert.

I love steel cut oatmeal, too; I did my WFMW post on it last week! Blueberries, walnuts, REAL maple syrup and cinnamon usually go into mine…
I love oatmeal, sadly I can’t get my kid to touch it with a ten foot pole. I am enjoying your blog, btw! Thought I’d delurk myself.
Wow, what a great idea!
I should totally put this into practice with my fussy son. I never thought of using frozen berries in oatmeal.
Thanks for sharing!
We eat oatmeal 2x a week, and cream of wheat 1x. (We also do pancakes, eggs, bacon, biscuits, bagels) But, my oatmeal mornings are so easy for me! : )
We’ll have to get a big bag of frozen berries and add these in for a treat! Thanks for the tip.
